  Recycle Reusable Paints at Lopez Solid Waste for Free — Sundays Only

LSWDD is an authorized drop-off site for PaintCare, a Washington Paint Stewardship Program. Customers can drop off up to 10 gallons of qualifying paint products in 5-gallon containers or smaller each Sunday.

Containers must:

  • be 5-gallons or smaller.

  • have original labels.

  • had secure lids that prevent spills and leaks.

Leaking, unlabeled, and empty containers will not be accepted. Fully dried paints will not be accepted. 

You can drop off the following paint products on Sundays only at LSWDD:

  • Interior and exterior architectural paints: latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based, enamel (including textured coatings)

  • Deck coatings, floor paints (including elastomeric)

  • Primers, sealers, undercoaters, Stains, Shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes (single component)

  • Waterproofing concrete/masonry/wood sealers and repellents (not tar or bitumen-based)

  • Metal coatings & rust preventatives

  • Field and lawn paints ​

​LSWDD will NOT Accept:

  • Dried paints

  • Paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents

  • Aerosol paints (spray cans)

  • Auto and marine paints

  • Art and craft paints

  • Caulk, epoxies, glues, adhesives

  • Paint additives, colorants, tints, resins

  • Wood preservatives (containing pesticides)

  • Roof patch and repair

  • Asphalt, tar and bitumen-based products 2-component coatings

  • Deck cleaners

  • Traffic and road marking paints

  • Industrial Maintenance (IM) coatings

  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) paints and finishes. 

Reuse Paints Dropped Off at LSWDD!

Customers are invited to take home for reuse paints that are dropped off at Lopez Solid Waste. You must not open containers on-site, and must take the paint as-is, in sealed containers. If you take the paint home and don't want it, you may return it to LSWDD on a following Sunday.​
